New Painting
Hi guys and gals! I have a new project underway. While ive been unpacking the stuff at my new house i have been thinking about venturing to a different place in my art world. Im going to try out something new. I have drawn up a quick sketch and im going to attempt a watercolour, pecil type deal. We will see how this goes as i am no good at colour! But i need something to keep me occupied. :) Here are a couple of the sketches. Enjoy <3
As of yesterday i have finished my 2nd year of uni, hooray! One more left, but while i have 3 months of holidays i thought i should get active. I've still been drafting up my Bride of Frankenstein Illustration as it never quite felt finished, and not where i thought my style was evolving to. It felt like a step back the way i drew her. So I revisited and i think ive finally come up with a solid draft.
I first started to minimise her body size to keep the theme with my other illustrations.
I felt she looked a little bit silly hanging out with nothing else around her, and im not fantastic and background scenes and all that so ive made another border similar to "Chica".
So I've then set myself up with a different bit of paper, my shittier paper (i don't know why i didnt use it in the first place), and then i decided that i asnt happy with my young girl and made her old. She is also in her original attire. She is in need of some harder liquor i think.
Positive Posters
So today i decided i needed to get my but into gear and finish off a brief that uni gave me. It was to design a poster for an organisation called "Positive Posters". Every year they have a poster competition around something positive and they get the winning poster put up all around the world. The great thing about this, is that it is all free (for the designers at least). There is no entry fee to put a design in and if you win, the whole world gets to see your design. Great! The only catch is that you can only put up one design.
This year the poster had to be a response to the quote "A Glass Half Full". So it was about optimism and positivity. And this is my response. :)

Oh and feel free to make donations! You can access a link on the site to do this :)

Today during Art Theory i did a couple of sketches, which are below.
Sorry for the dodgy quality and overlapping of the image (she is quite tall,a3) so i had to take two photos.
And this is the colour im thinking. Not too sure about the red on green though. I am going to experiment with water colours for the green, as i am not a huge fan of the "texta" marks it creates.
Also im not too sure about the print on her top yet. I may re-think that as its not quite right.
I may even create her as a digital image...oh the possibilities.. :)
Also i just want to add that it is Jarred and mine 7th (month) anniversary and i don't think i've ever been this much in love <3

Today i decided i wanted to make my very own A Line skirt, from scratch! So i whipped out the sewing machine and got an old skirt to use as reference, and viola! Definitely not quailty stitching though as i found it hard to get the tension right and i didnt have the right coloured thread and i ran out of the thread did have! But oh well, i know to re-stock before my next creative flair bursts out of my brain.
I had a great time at mums 50th. My costume looked great and i got to catch up with friends and family. The only thing is i didnt finish my costume myself! The shirt confused me so much i had to wait till i got back to Albury to get mum to do it for me :( I watched her though so i can make it myself one day. The skirt i made i didnt even wear. i decided to go with the red skirt my mum made me a year or so ago as it was longer and id rather people not see my bottom ;)

I'm very much excited about this project i have started. Its not really a project but more i need to make a costume for mums 50th birthday party. I've decided to go as a 50s rollerskating waitress. It is the first time I've ever made some thing by myself from a pattern, mum has always helped me with this sort of thing. Although i did ring her and ask what a couple of things meant I'm pretty proud to say that i made this skirt. And it's such a cute pink! :) I have a shirt and a hat to complete yet! I will keep you posted!
So i may have been a little naughty again and haven't written in a while. I'm pretty much settled into my new house and i love it. My housemate Kirri is so lovely, she was dead tired, dropping all her developing equipment but she was nice enough to help develop and then scan my very first roll of film from my Agfa Isolette camera :D I am super duper excited about how some of the photos have turned out as ive never taken photos using film before. Yay for Kirri! Yay for my Agfa Isolette!
