Yes, it does, Clo! I sat next to a young Australian graphic designer when I flew back from the US. On her left were two Americans coming to Oz for the first time. The GD explained to them all about the design of Oz money (different colours, etc). I use cash but I wouldn't be able to tell you the different colours off the top of my head. Everything around us is designed so as to keep society functioning and the economy ticking over. When design takes the next step and draws attention to itself, I guess that's when it becomes art. Just my theory...

the rule of thumb is.. make enough money to buy a tandem bike from graphics.. and your a professional graphic designer
